World 3-2
Step One
Stomp the Koopa and kick its shell to the right when the mushroom platform is tilting downward toward the block that holds the 1-Up. Grab the 1-Up Mushroom, then run left to make another Koopa appear, and carry its shell to the next mushroom platform. Kick it when the platforms right side is tilted upward and run along with the shell to score two 1-Ups from the foes it hits. Watch out for the rebound when it hits the ledge!
Step Two
Leap from the moving mushroom platform, into the green pipe above, which connects to a cloud area with a P switch that generates over 100 coins. The next pipe leads to a new area, where a dozen gyrating mushroom platforms stand between you and the red-flag exit.
Step Three
This red-coin ring generates two coins at the bottom of the screen. Daring players can stand on the final platform until it falls into the coins, then leap to safety at the last possible minute.
Step Four
Stand at the right edge of the mushroom platform and jump to the Star Coin as the platform’s right edge tilts upward. If you miss, you can get another chance by running to the left edge and jumping when that tilts upward. If you till can’t get it, don’t worry – the mushroom platform will travel back to the left eventually.
World 3-3
Step One
Hit the ? switch at point 1 to stop the airflow from the pipes above, allowing you to slip through the gap beneath them. Do not worry if you run out of time by going for the power-up – the ? switch will return.
Step Two
World 3-3’s red coin ring offers a simple test of your basic swimming skills. Take the four upper coins first and proceed clockwise or anti-clockwise to pick up the rest.
Step Three
This vast area is filled with coins and ? blocks by guarded by a school of Bloopers. The Bloopers can generate smaller Bloopers and shoot them in all directions, so it is best not to engage them at all. Simply grab your Star Coin and swim to an exit.
Step Four
When you take the Star Coin at point 4, four Bloopers will appear. Get the coin from below so you can sink to the exit without being blown into a Blooper.
World 3 Ghost House
Step One
The ? switches found throughout this level will make steps appear on the sharply inclined ramps. The steps will retract after only a few seconds, so don’t dawdle!
Step Two
Boos will freeze when you look their direction but move closer when your back is turned. Lure them in by turning away, then leap over them when they get close.
Step Three
The right-hand ? block contains a Boo instead of an item. If you accidentally free it, at least it cannot follow you out of the room.
Step Four
Bounce off of a Splunkin to reach this Star Coin. Keep bouncing – if you can hit each Splunkin twice, you will nab a 1-Up.
Step Five
In addition to raising the stairs, the ? switch at point 5 will make two doors appear on the map. Door D leads to the next area of the ghost house, but door G will take you straight to the warp-cannon exit. Reaching it in time won’t be easy – stomp the block, dash to the right, wall jump onto the staircase, long jump from the platform at the end of the stairs and leap down the stairs without touching them. Be ready to dash right to the door when you land – every millisecond counts!
Step Six
Use the Roulette Block to get a blue Koopa shell. Not only will it allow you to slide up the ramps without using a ? switch, but it will also let you smash through the blocks that obstruct the final Star Coin.
