The daughter of a famous Rhyhorn Racer named Grace, Serena was trying very hard to live up to her heritage. Her mother had her practice and practice, but it didn’t seem to be helping. Serena was sick of getting thrown off of Rhyhorn every time she had to ride. She felt lost. But there was one person she knew she had to find – her old friend Ash.
Old Friends, New Adventure
While watching TV with her mother, she spotted Ash bravely trying to save Garchomp from atop the Prism Tower. She couldn’t believe it was Ash, the boy she met back at Professor Oak’s Summer Camp. In fact, back at camp, Ash had used a handkerchief to bandage her injured knee and she still had that hanky! So, Serena left home to set out to find him. When she did, he was in the middle of trying to earn the Bug Badge from the Gym Leader of Santalune City, Viola. Although Ash didn’t remember her, Serena’s memory served them both well. She reminded Ash what he had told her, “Don’t give up until it is over”. Serena’s words of encouragement gave Ash the advantage he needed in his rematch, true grit. From then on, Serena has been there for Ash as he travels through Kalos. And for whatever details from camp Ash has forgotten, he and Serena have made many more new memories together on their latest journey.
She’s Got Style
Serena loves to create incredible outfits with her Pokemon. Since beginning her journey with Ash, she has found two fun ways to express her love of playing dress up – Pokemon Showcases and PokeVision videos. Serena and her Pokemon feel great when they know they are looking good. Her fashion sense adds to all of their confidence!
Smart Cookie
In addition to Serena’s many talents, she is also one of the best bakers. She is known for her yummy Poke Puffs and macaroons. So, when they come hot out of the oven, be sure to snag one before Ash’s chum Chespin scarfs all the sweets down.
Serena’s Pokemon
Braixen
Professor Sycamore’s lab was her first stop when she was trying to locate Ash. She got more than just clues there, she got her furry friend Fennekin too! Fennekin worked hard to become a fabulous Pokemon Performer at Pokemon Showcases. During a battle with the Fighting Type Pokemon, Serena’s encouragement made all the difference and it evolved into Braixen.
Pancham
If Pancham had a middle name, it would be trouble. It loves to cause a scene! Serena first spotted Pancham when it interrupted a Pokemon Showcase performance. Then, it stole Ash’s hat, Clemont’s glasses, and Serena’s heart. Serena could see how much Pancham loved attention and liked to perform. And Pancham could see that Serena understood that it put the acting out. So, Pancham agreed to battle her and Fennekin to join her on her journey.
Sylveon
Serena met Sylveon when it was a wild Eevee who loved to dance. Unfortunately, Team Rocket saw her magical moves and decided to capture the tiny dancer. But Serena stepped up to save The Evolution Pokemon. Impressed with her caring heart, Eevee then decided to join Serena on her journey. Serena’s support really transformed Eevee. During a tag battle with Ash at a dance party thrown by Pokemon Showcase Emcee Monsieur Pierre, Eevee evolved into Sylveon.
